CamMode Adds A Mode-Switching HUD To The iPhone Camera App

Have you ever wanted to add a mode-switching HUD to the iPhone Camera app. It can be possible if you have jailbroken device. On your iPhone the Camera app has a bulk of various shooting modes that can be switched between by swiping left or right in the viewfinder frame. Normally the carousel selector that is located under the frame shows the shooting mode you’re currently using, but iOS could do a much better job by informing this actions to the user. Developer Cole Cabral fixed this issue by releasing a new free Cydia tweak known as CamMode.

With this jailbreak tweak installed, a new heads-up display (HUD) appears whenever you change shooting modes in the Camera app. As you can see on the screenshot below, this mode-switching HUD is very similar in design to the HUD you see when your rear-facing LED flash is enabled.

The HUD only appears for just a second before fading away with a brief animation. It doesn't hide any element and don't interrupt your photography by any stretch.

CamMode jailbreak tweak is available for free from Cydia and it works on jailbroken iOS 10 and 9 devices. Once you install the tweak, a new preferences pane will be added to the Settings app:

From there you can enable/disable the tweak on demand, which is really handy in case when you temporarily need an uninterrupted photo-shooting experience for certain high-attention scenarios. The tweak doesn't have any other options to configure.

CamMode is purely aesthetic jailbreak tweak. Some will see it as redundant info as the carousel selector below the frame already shows the mode you’ve selected. But many users will value this element of the UI and find it useful.
