New Cydia Tweak Sends iMessage Read Receipts Only When Reply Back

Read receipt is a staple feature of many messaging apps nowadays including iMessage and you can now send iMessage read receipts only when reply back. With this feature enabled, recipients can view whether you’ve read their messages or not and at what time. With iOS 10, you can go into Settings and disable read receipts temporarily, but this becomes more of a nuisance than it’s worth. A new Cydia tweak dubbed as Delay Read Receipts offers an interesting solution. It allows users to send read receipts anytime they want.

With Delay Read Receipts tweak installed, read receipts will not be delivered to recipients until you’ve sent a reply or started typing it. This means that you can comfortably read messages without recipients finding out. Whenever you’re ready, you can start typing a reply or sending a message and the read receipt will then be delivered.

So if you want to try this great feature on your jailbroken iPhone then Delay Read Receipts is available as a free download package in Cydia’s BigBoss repository. The tweak supports iOS 10 iMessage.

Once you’re done installing the tweak, you will initially have to configure it. You can do this through a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app. The first thing you will find is a kill switch, that allows you to toggle the jailbreak tweak on or off Apart from this, you will also see an option that allows you to choose when to deliver read receipts. The two options include when you start typing the message or when it has been sent. So it’s pretty simple yet admirably convenient.

Delay Read Receipts is quite a useful tweak as it gives you time to read messages and think out a reply before sending it. With this tweak installed, you can still see your recipient’s read receipts, meaning that you can view whether they’ve read your messages or not.

Have you ever been in a situation where you wanted to read messages and reply at a later time without the recipient finding out? If yes then Delay Read Receipts tweak will definitely come in handy.
