How To Install iOS 8.1.2 On iPhone, iPad or iPod touch [Instruction]

Check two ways on how to install iOS 8.1.2 on iPhone. Apple company has just launched iOS 8.1.2 for iPhone, iPad and of course for iPod touch. It includes some bug fixes, and addresses a problem where ringtone purchased through iTunes Store may have been removed from your device.

Please take a backup of your iOS device before updating it with the latest iOS software update. You can back up your device using iTunes or iCloud.

Jailbreakers should not upgrade to iOS 8.1.2 because it is not clear if Apple has patched the exploits used by the TaiG jailbreak.

Install iOS 8.1.2 On iPhone Wirelessly Over The Air (OTA):

Step 1: Plug in your device, as the process can take some minutes.

Step 2: Connect your iPhone to your local WiFi network.

Step 3: Open the Settings app and click on General > Software Update. iOS system will automatically find the update and will inform you that iOS 8.1.2 software update is available.

Step 4: To download the update click Download.

Step 5: After download will be completed, click Install to apply the update.

Step 6: Go back to Settings > General > Software Update.

Step 7: Click Install Now to install the now downloaded iOS update file.

Note: Jailbreakers should install the update using iTunes. OTA updates give problems while jailbreaking an iOS device.

How To Install iOS 8.1.2 On iPhone Using iTunes:

Please use the iTunes latest version ( click on iTunes in the menu bar and then click on “Check for updates”).

Step 1: Using an USB cable connect your iOS device to your computer. Wait for iTunes to open and connect to device.

Step 2: In the top right corner in iTunes to the left of the iTunes Store button click on device button.

Step 3: Click on “Check for Update” directly. If the iOS 8.1.2 update is available it will automatically download and update the device to iOS 8.1.2.

Step 4: You will get the inform message that the new update is available. Click on Download and
Update button. If it says iOS 8.1.2 is the latest version then download the appropriate firmware file using download links provided in step 5.

Step 5: Skip this step if you iOS 8.1.2 was available in Step 3 and 4.

Download the firmware file for your device [Note the download file could be as big as 2.0 GB]:

Note: If you’re downloading the firmware file using Safari then make sure that auto unzip feature is disabled or use Chrome or Firefox.

After downloading the firmware file, hold the Option key (Mac) or the Shift key (Windows) and click on the “Check for Update”. Do not forget to click on the Check for Update button, and not the Restore iPhone button to avoid restoring your iPhone and setting up your device all over again.

Step 6: If you get the inform message that iTunes will update your iPhone/iPad/iPod touch to iOS 8.1.2.Then click on the Update button.

Step 7: You will see the iOS 8.1.2 release notes. Click on the Next button. Then click on the Agree button for the terms and conditions.

Step 8: iTunes will now download the firmware file. It can take a long time as it c big as 2.0 GB and of course depending on your internet connection). After downloading the file, it will process it, extract the software. Then it prepare your device for software update, and install it.

Step 9: It can take a few minutes until the update has finished. That's why do not disconnect your device. It will be updated to iOS 8.1.2 and reboot once or twice during the process. After it is successfully update you will see Hello screen. Follow the on-screen instructions to start using the device.
