How to Install iOS 8 GM [Gold Master] on iPhone and iPad

Apple released its new iOS 8 GM version and this Gold Master release is the last before iPhone 6 and the new firmware becomes public. iOS 8 Gold master installation process is a bit different from other versions of iPhone and iPad firmware. Step 2. If you don’t pay Apple $99 per year for being enrolled in its iOS Dev program, you should find a developer who is eager to download iOS 8 GM for your. If you are registered, log in and choose Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles menu – Devices - + [plus] and enter your UDID number.

Step 3. Download iOS 8 Gold Master version depending on your iDevice. This firmware supports iPhone 5, 5S, 5c and 4S, iPod touch 5G, iPad mini, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4 and iPad Air.

Step 4. Once you got the firmware file for iOS 8 GM, you can connect to iTunes. Make sure you are running the most recent iTunes 11.4 that supports iOS 8.

Step 5. Unzip your file to get .ipsw version.

Step 6. In iTunes choose your iPad, iPod touch or iPhone and go to Summary menu.

Step 7. If you are on PC with Windows OS, click on Shift and hold it down while you select Update option. If you are on Mac, select Option and hold while Updating.

Step 8. You’ll be asked to point to your .ipsw file. Do so and choose OK to proceed.

Step 9. Your iDevice will reboot and you will be running iOS 8 GM version.
