Apple Improves JavaScript Engine for iOS 8 Chrome and Firefox

Apple has finally released its iOS 8 beta to developers even though some users who are not afraid of risks break free from all the rules and also install the testing version on their smartphones and tablets. The long iOS 8 features list offers numerous enhancements that will definitely be interesting to explore, test and go through.
While most iOS 8 new features are things widely discussed and expected by analysts long before the WWDC introduction of this beta operating system, there is the new iOS 8 JavaScript improvement worth talking about.

Safari versions for Macs come with the Nitro JavaScript engine that is pretty powerful and it is capable of loading all the JavaScripts twice quicker. Well, this Nitro JavaScript engine is in iOS 8 firmware now with further improvements. The Cupertino “fruit” king ported it into its mobile Safari browser back in 2011, and now the same option comes to iOS applications!

iOS 8 New Features with JaveScript Enhancement

It was previously impossible to have Firefox, Chrome and other browsers use the benefits of the fast Nitro JavaScript engine meaning users couldn’t load webpages through these third-party applications as fast as through Safari browser. This happened because of the security reasons Apple took care about.

The latest iOS 8 features seem to take care of the issues with security in browsing on the iPhone and iPad and enhanced the options making JavaScripts load as fast as in Safari, but through other browsers. The discovery was made by iOS devVickiMurley who shared the news on Twitter.

It’s not a secret that some people don’t like Safari and prefer using other programs for surfing web. Now they will get the chance to choose which app to use, getting similar performance in different programs because of the Nitro JavaScript engine improved in iOS 8 release.

Have you already installed iOS 8 on your iPhone 5S / 5c / 5 / 4S or other iDevice? Do you see any different in browsing through various apps?
