We have seen reports from TSMC company that works with Apple about the first batch release of the future Touch ID fingerprint sensor for the next iPhone 6 release of which is expected in the fall 2014. The same sensors should be presented for the next line of iPad Air and mini 3.

TSMC has most likely started to produce the sensors for the fruit handsets and tablets in late winter or early spring. There were news in January that said the production would begin in the second quarter of 2014. It has begun, and the first patch is on the way.

Some rumors assure there will be the same 8-inch fingerprint sensor for iDevices as used in the iPhone 5S. Others hope that there will be the improved 12-inch fingerprint sensor.By the way, one well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who predicts the future for Apple products mentioned that the Touch ID sensor will be included to the new iPad mini and iPad Air. For now this rumor falls in line with other news.

The early start for producing the sensors can mean that iPad Air 2 release date and iPhone 6 release could be in September 2014. Apple has enough time to get sensors for all its gadgets.

TSMC is Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. The report is presented by cecb2b site. This source mentions that not only TSMC works at iPhone 6 fingerprint sensor production, but also other subsidiaries: Suzhou Crystal Semiconductor and Xinteccompany.
